Prospero Student Support are actively recruiting specialist Study Skills tutors to work with University students with an autism spectrum condition.
Our Academic Mentors work with their students on a 1:1 basis working together to help the student achieve their academic goals. Working with your student you will create an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with unique goals and targets set by the student and mentor.
You will help each student you support address their barriers to learning created by their impairment(s) and help them understand how to work best independently. Your sessions will cover varies areas such as:
- Organisation skills
- Time management and prioritising workload
- Information acquisition and recall
- Written and numeracy skills
Requirements for this role:
A degree in any subject and;
A teaching qualification and;
Six National Autistic Society (NAS) online training modules:
- Understanding autism
- Autism and communication
- Autism and sensory experience
- Autism, stress and anxiety
- Autism: supporting families
- Autism and Girls
OR
A relevant qualification. One of the following:
- A degree in Autism
- A Post Graduate Certificate (PGC) in Autism/Asperger’s/Critical Disability focusing on autism
- An MA/MEd/PhD in Education (Autism/Special Educational Needs and Disability/Critical Disability Studies focusing on autism)
and;
A teaching qualification and;
National Autistic Society (NAS) Autism and Girls on-line course
