About the role

Salary: Up to £75,000 dependent on experience

Hargreaves Lansdown is looking for a talented senior software engineer to join the Identity product development team in establishing its new customer identity and access management (CIAM) platform.

Role Responsibilities

We are looking for someone that is passionate about delivering market-leading client experiences, with prior experience implementing CIAM solutions being a benefit.

  • Build and run Cloud-native applications with Typescript, React and NextJS.
  • Develop AWS Typescript lambdas connecting to other internal services.
  • Establish and maintain automated tests for the changes being implemented.
  • Write high quality, secure and performant code.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement within the team including for the quality, security and performance and CI/CD processes.
  • Responsible for documenting all solutions, produced to agreed team standards.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and further technologies & techniques embraced by the development team.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships both within working squad and in HL as a whole.
  • Actively participating in working groups and communities of practice designed to support the development team.
  • Continually developing both technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Providing engineering support for existing applications when necessary.
  • Providing coaching & mentoring to peers.
  • Comfortable engaging with external stakeholders, such as security, enterprise architecture and downstream consumers of your team’s services.
  • Evangelise best practices and assist the team in avoiding anti-patterns.
  • Proactively engage in the upskilling of those around you, from both a technical and mindset point-of-view.

Experience

  • Professional experience with Typescript, AWS and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Experience developing and maintaining React-based JavaScript SPAs using NextJS.
  • Experience with unit, integration, and end to end testing tools and practices (e.g. Jest, Cypress, Backstop).
  • Experience of onboarding 3rd party tools, and integration with existing internal and external applications.
  • Understanding of Microservices & principles of RESTful API development, including structuring, documenting, versioning, testing and stubbing/mocking.
  • Experience performing code reviews.
  • Experience operating within Agile framework.

Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of HTML/CSS (SCSS), JavaScript and Typescript.
  • Excellent working knowledge of JavaScript libraries and frameworks, in particular, React.
  • Understanding of the OAuth 2 Framework and Open ID Connect flows (OIDC).
  • Use of JSON Web Tokens.
  • Fluent using Git (GitLab).
  • Understanding CI / CD and Trunk Based Development.
  • Aware of website performance implications and best practices.
  • Advocate of excellent development practices including accessibility coding practices.
  • Able to write, assist in writing or reviewing technical documentation.

Desirable

  • Hands on experience with ForgeRock Identity Cloud.
  • Ability to understand Java and/or PHP code.
